Design Project

This is a slightly different post from the others. Learning the basics of design; they then must be implemented into the field of Design you have chosen. Clearly, my chosen path is Interior Design. What follows is the processes, ideas, concepts, notes, sketches, and just an overall idea of what the client wants/or needs.

Also included are textiles chosen to be used. Furniture concepts, appliance concepts, and "extras" that are for fun and games!

The whole process, felt a little daunting at the beginning. Was I? or Am I? cut out for this, I mean, can I really create spaces, that ebb and flow? Will my learned skills come into play? Will it be harmonious, will it be balanced, will it have too much color, or not enough? Can and will the space be enjoyed? Fortunately I remembered a quote (listed below)-and as I put the writing utensil to paper, ideas came and went, they were adjusted, perfected, and approved. Can you believe how wonderful it is, to be excited, and energized working?! It's too bad we have to sleep, because, I could just draw, create, and shop ALL DAY LONG!

In time, you WILL see-- "I am a Designer"!

Important note to remember: "Design is never complete!!"

Beginning Processes:

Rough Sketch of the living room & partly the kitchen, just trying to get ideas, & concepts, and accumulating facts, likes & dislikes.

The living room, containing a pool table, dart board, chalk board painted on the wall with chalkboard paint. French doors, with a black out shade on each door. Stack-able coffee table. storage foot stools, solid black bottoms, with accent material on the tops. Leather media chairs, have head pillows, with same accent material.

Pantry "wall" with gliding barn door; painted entirely with magnetic paint, top half covered with chalkboard paint.. This allows the entire door to be magnetic.

Media wall-located directly across from the media chairs & couch, containing: HDTV, Game Consoles, Cable/Satellite Receiver, Surround Sound Receiver, & Blue-Ray/DVD. Storage for movies, video games, CD's (if you still have any), and room to place knick-knacks, pictures, etc. The two top doors, are framed in black with glass inserts, and with the knowledge that the home owner has a "passion" for skulls, incorporated them in the design.

In the kitchen we have dual wall ovens, a massive, almost commercial refrigerator, all cabinets are black base cabinets, uppers, ans lowers. The cabinet doors will be black, unless they have frosted glass inserts  All the drawers are red. Leaning towards a high gloss "shiny" paint. A trash & recycling cabinet. All appliances are stainless steel. Kitchen back-splash will placed up to, almost the halfway point of the wall; from top of counter. Materials for this will be, (lower) Gold Debossed Aluminum, and (upper) Large Rivet Aluminum.  The hanging pendant lights, did not make it in the end, upper cabinets, will be frosted glass inserts.

KITCHEN

Kitchen counter tops are Black Quasar, it has a vary light hint of gold in the lighter values, seen in the picture.

The back splash; discussed earlier.

Here is an example of the gliding barn door, placed on the pantry.

Pantry-just as a visual example.

Glass shelving, which will be placed in front of the full corner kitchen window, allowing the homeowner to display his massive collection of unique tequila bottles.

The kitchen island will contain the microwave, the induction stove top, the kitchen sink, and the dual dishwasher drawers.
