Value

What is value? The value of our belongings, the value of the dollar, or the value of  our relationships. All these are fine and dandy, but we are discussing the value, as it relates to color. Value in essence is used to describe the lightness and darkness of color. It is how we relate to the figure and ground in the painting, or design. The average eye can see 40 variations in value.

Value and color are related, for example, yellow, a light color, is high value. Purple, a dark color, is low value; & red would be in the middle of the two.
