Unity

Unity means that the "parts" of the design have congruity or an agreement exists among the elements. They look as though they "fit", there is a visual connection, and not just "the chance" they might belong together. We might also call this Harmony

Unity is important in design, because with out it our composition will fall apart.

Collage:
A collection of materials assembled on a
 two-dimensional surface.

In this example we can clearly see different shapes, sizes and photos all assembled together, which in turn create a unified space.
